On Sunday, May 21st, BCAP and the Interfaith AIDS Coalition (IAC) of Boulder County co-hosted the AIDS CANDLELIGHT MEMORIAL in Boulder. One of the oldest and largest grassroots mobilization campaigns for HIV and AIDS awareness in the world, BCAP and the IAC have been participating in this campaign since 1992.
45 people turned out in rainy weather to remember and to honor those lost to AIDS and to renew a pledge of support to people living with HIV today. Speakers at the Memorial honored those lost and raised consciousness about the continuing challenges facing those living with or at risk for acquiring HIV.
Members of the faith community participated through music, readings and the reading of names. Friends, family members and supporters gathered together at the BCAP office before participating in a silent walk to the Court House. Due to inclement weather, the walk ended at First United Methodist Church in downtown Boulder.
